Total sham

The first phone call came from a lady_ she informed me, i had been randomly selected to win a $500 grocery voucher. In order to receive it, i was only required to pay a confirmation fee of of $4.99.
So if i would kindly give her my credit card number i should expect the voucher within 3 to 5 days.

For a split second, she aroused my interest, then my alarm bells went off. Why should i give out my credit number to some total stranger?
I explained to her, i could do no such thing without any verification or whatsoever. Assuming i had received the voucher already and had to pay some amount in order to access it, perhaps then i would consider that possibility.

She went into some winding soliloquy about her organization and their genuineness blah blah... I wondered which side of the bed she thought i woke up from that morning, or perhaps i might have the word 'moron' imprinted on my forehead.

I politely thanked her and informed her i was not interested in receiving any voucher and hanged up_ that was about 5 days ago

Yesterday_same number, same story, the only difference; male voice.

Me: i 've heard all that you've said sir, but i am not interested in your offer

Man: but madam! you have been randomly selected

Me: are you kidding me, when did wining anything become by force_ click...

NB_these people must think, we are all a bunch of idiots.

Setting the bar

In a city of great expectations, do we ever get all that we really want?
Are our expectations too high, that we fail to see when we have it all?

When do you settle, and when do you keep looking?

Black or White

It lingers on my mind all day, and just before the sand master sprinkles his dust, i give it a once over
I'm looking for an answer to a question, that i may already know.

It's so strange that what you say, and what i hear, are two different things
Is it that i'm not listening or that you are not communicating
I'm beginning to wonder if it is my ears, or my heart that is receptive
It seems you and i are simply lost in translation

Strange addiction

On the bus ride home, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the old man sitting a couple of seats away. He was so engulfed in the what he was doing, that he seemed not to notice the nine or so pair of eyes shooting bullets holes through his head.

For the thirty-five minutes ride to my stop, i watched him pull out the graying hair around his chin and neck area, and with each pluck, he popped the strand in his mouth and savored the taste with pure delight.

Though I found the sight quite disturbing, my eyes were but glued to the ritual. As my gaze traveled to his receding hairline, I wondered if the recession was natural or he had tucked a napkin in his collar and had had himself a feast.

He must be suffering from Trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder)_goggled the word, can’t even pronounce it lol

What strange addictions do you know about?

Shut up or Speak up

Lets face it people, nobody likes to be called out, we don't take it well.

Bottling up what's eating you may nevertheless be a recipe for disaster, should the lid blow, that is a tsunami in the works

So how do you voice out a flaw_ Yes! Love me, love my dog, but seriously what if the dog is a little monster, do you tip toe around it, or take a jab at it. Even if you manage to find the blurry line in between and let it slip, you are 98% of the time bound to suffer the aftermath of an attack, or denial, the worst being_ the silent treatment.

Therefore, if i may ask, when does criticism become less constructive and more destructive? Can a person not speak their mind, without the other taking offense or a blow to the ego.
